"DO NOT BUY THIS TV" 2009-10-13
By Joe Davis (Lamar,, MO USA)
Exactly 13 months after I bought this tv the Display panel went out. It is going to cost me over $700 to fix. Luckily I had an extended warranty with my Capital One card. BUYER BEWARE!

UPDATE: Was told a new display panel will run 1722.64! That does not include s/h or labor to put it in. Over 2 grand to fix a $1300 tv. What a joke! Too bad there is not a lemon law law cars.

 "Toshiba sells bad panels" 2009-07-29
By RTBIO (IA)
My experience is essentially the same as the others who have reviewed this model in 2009. After the set was just days over a year old the screen began to have multi-colored vertical lines appear along the right, then left edges. So far the lines do disappear after the set has had 10-15 minutes to warm up. But, come on, for $1400 the thing should work for more than a year. I fully expect this defective television could become unwatchable at any time. When that happens my replacement will NOT be a Toshiba LCD.

"Product failed within 17 months; $1,500 down the drain" 2009-07-15
By FNU MNU LNU (Midwest, USA)
Within 17 months of purchase, my Toshiba Regza (a $1,500 television set) is unusable. About 1/3 of the screen is covered with multicolored vertical lines. The authorized repair wants $2,000 in total to fix the TV set (it requires an $1,800 part). Toshiba customer service tells me I am out of luck because the product is out of warranty. They were not particularly nice, helpful, understanding, or at all interested in learning more about what is an obvious design defect in an allegedly high-end product. It is obviously within Toshiba's discretion to service out of warranty products which have such profound failures within such a short period of time. I will never buy another Toshiba product and will share my negative experience with as broad an audience as is possible.

 "Toshiba Service Stinks" 2009-04-25
By M. Wooten (Birmingham, AL United States)
We were very pleased with this television until a couple of months ago, when it began having vertical lines across the left, and then right, sides of the screens. I sent Toshiba an e-mail about it in March, when the TV was about 2.5 months out of warranty. We tried some troubleshooting and when that didn't help, they said to take it to get an estimate. The technician said the entire LCD screen had gone bad and would need to be replaced, at a cost of $3,078! (I paid $1983 for it.)

Toshiba told me to send them a letter requesting assistance. A few days later they told me, sorry, it's out of warranty, and they wouldn't do anything about it. I explained that since the ENTIRE LCD SCREEN had gone bad after just 14 months, it was clearly defective. And it's not like I was having to pay a couple of hundred dollars for a part - the entire TV was scrap. Nothing I said would change their mind.

I understand that it's out of warranty. What I don't understand is them acknowledging that there was something wrong with the LCD screen, that it should have lasted MUCH longer, etc., but not being willing to stand behind their products, do the right thing, and at least provide a partial refund or SOMETHING.

That was my third Toshiba television purchase, but it will be my last. They have lost a customer for life, and I hope if you're reading this, you will pay attention to this - they WILL NOT stand behind their products and do the right thing.

 "My LAST Toshiba..." 2009-02-27
By Just A Home Woodworker (Pecatonica, IL United States)
I purchased this set 14 months ago for a bit less than $2,000. The panel went bad a few weeks ago. Repair costs would have been in excess of $2,500. The best I could get from Toshiba was "We are sorry" (even though they wasted 30 minutes of my time spitting it out). It was tough to "write off" but I did so. They obviously do not need my business; I surely do not need any more of their products. Moral.....buyer beware.
