I feel a little better reading the reviews only because I thought I was the only one that got a crappy TV. Same exact things. It started with a line on the lower right of the screen, about four inches up. Then, the entire left side of the screen crapped out with lines and random colors. Just like the others, about an hour on it seems to warm up and recover the left side of the screen but, obviously, this is not acceptable. Mine is headed for the landfill... and I will never, ever, ever, buy a Toshiba TV again.

I purchased this set on February 6, 2008 from a Circuit City in Green Bay, Wi., solely because of the narrow bezel. I have purchased other Toshiba products in the past and was always very happy with my purchase.
Up until 2 weeks ago I was completely happy with it. Then I noticed the left 4 inches or so was lighter than the remainder of the screen. A couple of days after this problem started the entire left side of the screen filled up with the same colored vertical lines everyone else is complaining about. The first time this occured I turned the TV off and back on and the vertical lines disappeared.
For awhile.
The second time the lines appeared, they were flickering on and off so I got up and tapped (hit) the top frame of the TV on the left side. and they disappeared again.
Toshiba obviously knows they have a serious problem with these models, but just replies sorry, but there isn't anything we can do because the TV is beyond it's one year warranty.
This is false.
The company has already extended the warranty on the 46 inch version of this model.
For the same type of problems.
It goes without saying,. this will be the last Toshiba product I will ever purchase.

Stay away from this TV unless you plan to throw it away in 18 months. I purchased this TV in March of 2008 and by September 2009, when the TV reaches operating temperature, the whole left half of the screen degenerates in to multicolored lines, making it totally unwatchable. I have to say that when the TV is cold it looks fantastic, but only being able to watch it for 30 minutes at a time detracts from the value in this purchase. Oh, yeah, and the bass is weak and the remote wore out in three months.

I will now add my comment to all the others about how soon my set also crapped out in about 22 months.
I was very pleased with set when I first got it, it fit the space in my cabinet just fine and the picture and sound was very good up till now.
Like many others I have gotten nothing but the run around from Toshiba since it is out of warranty. I have the same problem mentioned in a lot of the after the fact reviews. It has multicolored vertical strips on the left side of the screen (4x3). These strips go away in anything from 15 to 40 minutes but it shows that the screen or its drivers have temperature issues. Toshiba customer service on this TV is a joke, which says that they have had a lot of problems and do not want to take the hit and have them repaired of replaced, if this TV was a car it would be recalled.
I am now looking for a replacement TV and I can tell you it will not be a Toshiba, it won't be easy to find a 40" (perfect for the room) that fits the cabinet.
To have it repaired would cost more than I paid for the set.
My recomendition is don't buy this set, that is if it is still being sold.

We bought this tv in January 2008. It seemed like a great value and we loved it for a while. However, about 15 months after purchasing the tv the left side of the tv got vertical lines on it. It takes at least 20 minutes for the lines to go away after it is warmed up. Until then, you can only see the right half of the tv. Our tv also has areas on both sides that are lighter than the inside frame. We called Toshiba, but they told us they hadn't received any complaints about the product. They also told me to go ahead and write a bad review because so many other people like the product. I called the local Toshiba repair place in our town and they told us they had 2 other complaints about the same television. The customer service was awful, the money was a waste and we will never buy another Toshiba.
